GREAT MIDWEST BOOK FESTIVAL NAMES ‘AMERICAN MOON’ FOR TOP HONORS

LOS ANGELES_The story of a journey to California in search of new beginnings is the top book of the 2024 Great Midwest Book Festival, which honors the best books of the late winter/spring.

Author  David W. Berner’s American Moon  tells the story of Austen, who takes to the road, hoping for a chance at an improbable new beginning. But in the first days of his travels, he's confronted with a troubling discovery - a baby left alone and crying in a room at a rundown roadside motel in a small Missouri town. Taylor, the child's mother, is on her own desperate journey, fighting addiction and struggling to find a way out of the unbearable state of her impoverished hometown and its unrelenting opioid crisis.

The two form an unlikely alliance and together search for new hope in what remains of a forgotten and uncertain American Dream. This vivid and gripping story will engage readers in a fresh look at the world and its ways.
